ED arrests Jharkhand minister Alamgir Alam in ₹35 crore cash recovery case
In an unexpected twist, bulldozers, usually associated with states like Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, have stormed into Kolkata's political scene. On Friday, a bulldozer was aimed at the residence of a prominent BJP leader, sparking chaos within the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC). The incident led to a fierce clash between BJP and Trinamool councilors.
Sunil Kumar Singh's house in North Kolkata's Bidon Street faced the bulldozer's action, creating turmoil within the KMC. The BJP tried to raise this issue during a council meeting, but Chairperson Mala Rai intervened, resulting in a press conference held by the BJP. The situation escalated when Trinamool councilors arrived, accompanied by councilor Mahesh Sharma, sparking a physical altercation.
Councilor Sajal Ghosh reported being assaulted during the scuffle, planning to file a complaint. Mahesh Sharma defended their intervention, stating the councilor's room should host official press conferences only, without external involvement.
Allegations surfaced that Singh's house was targeted due to his BJP affiliation.
The incident reminds HC's Justice Abhijit Ganguly's suggestion to consider using bulldozers for illegal constructions, akin to UP's CM Yogi Adityanath.
